Pork Liver Congee with Black Sticky Rice
The Medicinal Effects of Combining Black Rice and Pork Liver
In Chinese, black rice is known as "purple pearls". It is full of nutrients and minerals, and, like pork liver, it is great for supplementing blood. Eating this dish frequently can help one improve their eyesight, quicken their blood, supplement their kidneys, nourish their liver, boost their qi, and fortify their spleen.
Cooking Congee with Black Rice and Glutinous Rice
Black rice and glutinous rice must be soaked in water for at least one hour before being boiled into congee.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (100 grams) black rice
- 1.76 ounces (50 grams) pork liver
- 1/4 cup (50 grams) glutinous rice
Seasonings
- ginger to taste
- salt to taste
- sesame oil to taste

Cooking Directions
- Wash glutinous and black rice. Soak in water for 1 hour.
- Shred ginger.
- Cut pork liver into strips. Submerge briefly in cold water, then add to boiling water until cooked 80%. Remove from boiling water.
- Bring appropriate amount of water to boil in pot. Add black rice and glutinous rice; bring to boil over high heat.
- Add pork liver. Reduce heat to low and simmer to form congee. Add salt and sesame oil to taste. Sprinkle shredded ginger on top. Serve.
