Known throughout the world as a “golden crop,” corn is a healthy grain that is of special importance to the Cantonese people. It is often used in soup and congee dishes and serves as a delicious complement to the other three “treasures” – peanuts, raisins, and walnuts – used in this sweet and delicious congee recipe.

Four treasures congee is good for both the brain and the stomach, as it provides a great amount of energy while nourishing the liver and kidney. It is especially suitable for pregnant women.

Ingredients
- 1/8 cup (30 grams) corn
- 1/5 cup (30 grams) peanuts
- 1/5 cup (30 grams) raisins
- 1/4 cup (30 grams) walnuts
- 4/5 cup (150 grams) rice
Seasonings
- white sugar to taste

Cooking Directions
- Wash and rinse the rice. Separate and wash the corn, shelled peanuts, raisins, and shelled walnuts. Soak each in water and save for future use.
- Add water to a pot, and pour in the rice, corn, peanuts, raisins, and walnuts. Bring to boil under high heat, then turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour.
- Mix in white sugar, to taste.
